The UAE Patent Office has been operating an online filing system since July 2016. At the time of moving to the e-system, all agents received a circular notifying them to provide electronic information for their client’s pending cases for transfer to the new system. It has subsequently come to light that not all agents provided the necessary information to the Patent Office. Any pending application, for which information was not provided, will not be prosecuted further. Applicants who have experienced long delays in hearing anything about the status of their applications, should check with their agents that their files were moved to the e-system.
